Christchurch
How have the Christchurch earthquakes had an impact on our city?
Some buildings caught fire after the February earthquake. Damage to buried pipes allowed sewage to enter the water so people had to boil their tap water so then all the poo that drooped in the water has gone.
What positive or negatives have come from the quakes?
That we got new building because of all the damage on the building and lots of people died because of how bad it was.
What are some changes that citizens have made to prevent damage happening from potential future earthquakes?
They put tsunami warning system around the shores to warn people of a possible tsunami so they can get to high ground so they not drown.
My favorite place in Christchurch is botanical gardens because of how nice it looks and it is a nice place people go to hang out and have a play with there kids.

ReplyDeleteA nice summary of ideas. I like your reflection that there have been some positives that came from the experience. Do you think Christchurch is a better place for having gone through the ordeal? Do you have anyone in your extended whānau who is still having problems as a result of the 'quakes?
Keep up the good work
